Today I did the air filter, which is ridiculously easy and the chain/sprocket kit, which is a pain as BMW made 1 part do several jobs. This 1 plate holds both front and rear pegs, the gear shift pivot, the bolts for both stands and the swing arm pivot bolt which is a single use item... Oh it also acts as the front sprocket cover so has to come off  An engineer in Bavaria is probably very proud of such multi tasking of a single Aluminium casting, anyone who even wants to clear the old chain gunk from around the front sprocket want's to curse his name. I have a paddock stand but it has hooks, so I used my old scissor lift table, Bike up on the main stand, rear wheel out, lift table under the swing arm until the main stand is off the ground then I could take that side plate off.   I have a reasonable set of torx bits and needed the biggest one.  Cleaned out and checking the new cushioned front sprocket fits.  Air filter is nice and easy   On a more positive note, not having to thread the chain through the frame means that the new one can be riveted on the bench with my chain tool held in the vise, much easier than doing it on the bike, freehand trying not to scratch painted shiny parts.  3

There were a number of people on the BMW MOA site that have had very good results with them. I had also looked into making a set of duffle bags myself, but proper water-resistant canvas is expensive enough that I wouldn't be saving any money. And they wouldn't be made as well.
So I think I'm set for my trips this year. And the snow's finally gone! Woo Hoo!!!  4

I want to fit a camera to the bike and wondered about fitting the front camera just under the beak. I’d probably put a couple of self-tappers in to make it secure. I can’t see that there’s anything significant behind that panel and it would be away from the headlight interference. Does anybody have any thoughts?

I used a ComfortAir seat cushion, which was very good, although you have to use it with only a very small amount of air. £70/£80, which is a lot less than £600 !

You can get an adapter that fits into the sat nav mount that converts it into a phone mount. BMW do one which is loads of money but you can get them off internet for about £30. My friend has just got one for his new 850gs. Tried it my 900r and it fits and charges fine.
