45 Degree
on: July 23, 2021, 10:45:03 AM
Found out this morning on way into work, that at 45 degree lean angle the foot pegs make contact with the ground on the XR.

That certainly woke me up!!!  :005: :007:

Good to know. I have not gone beyond 40 degrees so I have a bit of a safety margin. My ego prefers the term Safety Margin over Chicken Strips.

I know I'll never be the fastest but I have fun.  :152:

45 deg is pretty epic lean angle  :020: I've got the lowered foot pegs which is why i don't go past 40 deg...or at least that's my excuse and i'm sticking to it  :008:

Yup, I hit the peg at 46 degrees on track day with recommended BMW damp and preload setting according to the manual.

But commuting with 45 degrees lean angle? Oh man that's crazy and eipic ;) I would not dare to do that.

It was coming off a traffic light controlled big roundabout. The lights stayed green with nothing in front of me. Sweeping right then left going onto a dual carriageway. I didn't realise how far over I was until the peg touched.

It's been extremely hot here in UK. So roads have been very sticky.

I obviously don't normally ride like that on my daily commute. But the moment presented itself and I took it. I blame the bike for egging me on!

I agree with you. It must be the bikes fault!!! :138: :152:
Maybe the colour theory is right.

My ď donít be stupidĒ Homer Simpson voice cuts in at about 35deg but unlike Homer I listen to it. Such is the limit of my capability and my confidence. I am most respectful of the 45 club but I hope they donít do it all the time as it creates an inevitability me thinks - no matter how much more capable they are. Naughty bikes.
