Currently riding an F800GT and looking for a change to something more up to date.  Interested to hear opinions from folks who have changed from the F800GT - what do you like/dislike/miss?  Looks like all F900XR upgrade packages are worth having.  I'll be buying secondhand because the new ones are not available with much other than the touring package.  Now, to trawl this forum for what to look (out) for....

    Hi JockyT
I had a 2017 F800GT with full OEM luggage and top box for 2 years and toured the continent on it so I know what its like. I've now got a 2021 F900XR and yesterday returned from a trip touring the Picos mountains in Northern Spain and didn't want to get off it. To keep it simple and obviously this is only my opinion. The GT was 218kg and the XR is 219kg so basically the same.

    Advantages
    Significantly more power / performance.
TFT screen is amazing. Easy to use and fun to use. Loads of info too including conectivity if you're into that.
    Better looking, more modern looking.
    Feels lighter and more nimble.
Adjustable screen with the lift of a lever which can be done on the move.
OEM exhaust looks and sounds great.
    LED lights are absolutely superb
    LED indicators look very smart
Electronically adjustable suspension is very effective and a joy to use.
    Mid 60's MPG fuel consumption.
    230 mile tank range.
219kg bike easy to wheel around in the garage / forecourts etc.
Fantastic electronics packages and you can really feel the difference between Rain, Road and Dynamic.
SW Motec do semi hard urban luggage cases for £350 including brackets and inners and locks that look better than the BMW OEMs.

    Disadvantages
Chain drive maintenance. But only needs lubing after every 3 refuels.
The XR standard seat is a bit hard after an hour but I think the F800 was?

Best thing you can do is to have a test ride. Good luck.

Excellent - thanks Banus.  I'm planning a test ride soon.
