I just had my 2021 F900R serviced at Engle Motors in Kansas City. When I made the appointment several weeks ago, I specifically requested a software update in addition to the annual service. When I dropped it off, I again requested a software update in addition to the standard service. Upon picking the bike up later that day, the tech staff said no software was mandated by BMW records so they didn't perform it. They then made up a story that it would take hours and hours to run the software update so it would have to be scheduled for another day. So I asked, yeah so i should make an appointment so you can ignore my request again. I am still on the original softare. Poor BMW tech service from my dealer. :211:

I still love my 900R but I recieved far superior service from my local HD dealer on my Softail Low Rider. Very frustrated. BMW dealerships are their weak link.
It will indeed require a few hours, as they will have to update all modules of the bike - they can't pick and choose.

And you are doing it wrong - they are not going to update software just because you want it, you have to complain about something. The easiest is to complain about unstable bluetooth connection, in this case they will have to do an update to resolve the "issue".

Good tip and i will definitely take your advice as i have been experiencing bluetooth connection problems. Still frustrating from my perspective as i have been making an effort to have all service documented by the dealer while the bike is under warranty. I would have expected the dealer to reciprocate and keep the bike current for software, especially after i requested it twice.

BMW does not recommend to update software just for fun as the modules can go "kaput" during the procedure. Dealer has to have a reason to update it.
